Somali elders carry the wisdom, culture, and history of their community. Respecting and protecting them is essential, yet anti-Somali harassment and discrimination can threaten their safety and well-being.
The Minnesota Response Network (MRN) provides Somali elders with legal guidance, rapid response support, and volunteer assistance to ensure they live safely and with dignity. We connect elders with resources for healthcare, community engagement, and social support.
MRN also offers volunteer programs that create intergenerational connections, helping elders feel valued and connected. Through storytelling and advocacy, we amplify elders’ voices, celebrating their contributions and highlighting their role in sustaining cultural traditions.
Our work ensures that Somali elders can enjoy safe, respected, and empowered lives. MRN stands with them to protect their rights and honor their place in Minnesota’s communities.
